This has changed in the period of high economic growth. Now there is an underlying view that the elderly are weak coupled with this attitude of respect, creating a double structure of these mixed views. Government aims for elderly people not to depend on the system and has encouraged the elderly to participate in society actively. However, it has not managed to change the duplex structure. In such circumstances, the elderly were not able to see themselves positively. However, some elderly have spoken out opposing this situation, making their will known in society.
